Love Labors Lost was produced at the University of Arkansas’s Mini Greek Theater, just outside the University Theater. This design was the first time for the University and I working outside in this space. This Created several Challenges for lighting as the performances started during the day and moved into the night, traveling through a sunny environment to a very dark environment. Part of the Lighting design include the transition of the sun into the night it also fit well with the script. There was limits to the amount of equipment that the lighting could use because this place was never fully designed for the use of fixtures. The limits was designated by the amount of circuits our traveling dimmer rack was able to produce. While only have a certain amount of circuits, each circuit could handle two lights, this created a puzzle of organizing lights to work as a system instead of individual control to maximize the amount of fixtures I could use. This location did not have any hanging position and we rented truss systems to be able to create the hang position. Because of the limited amount of time being able to adjust lights due to the sun a lot of the focusing and programing was done late at night after the space got dark enough to see the lights. The only time to work on the show was late at night and this limited he amount of work I could complete before tech started. The design was the first in person production with and audience after coved started at the University of Arkansas.
